Pets don’t have to be challenging.  You just have to build trust with them and have a lot of patience.  In some respects, they’re like young children: short attention spans, excitable, moody.  Still they will warm up to you if you come with the right attitude.

A long-time acquaintance of mine emailed me, asking for some portraits of her two “children”, Maggie and Maddy.  In all, I spent a good hour or so with them, snapping away as they played.  Those are all fun shots, but I thought I’d show the more posed…

Head shots are always fun.  Sometimes, you get the chance to slow things down, really concentrate on your subject, and bring a lot of creativity to their character.  Sometimes, you get to experiment with new lighting techniques.  Of course, that’s only sometimes.  Most of the time, you have to do all of that PLUS get it done in 15 minutes or less.  Either way…it’s still fun.
