Children are a riot. Recently, a local pre-school director asked me to shoot the spring graduation portraits for her kids. She was extremely unhappy with picture days in the past, and wanted something a little different. We sat down, talked about it, and then she tells me this: she’d never even seen my work! She was strictly going off a reference. How cool is that? It was so flattering that someone would have that amount of confidence to book me on the spot.
OK, so my first school shoot went down like this. First thing in the morning, we shot all the cap & gown pictures. (Note to self: always bring an extra extension cord—schools are notorious for putting only one outlet in a room.) After a short break, we pulled each of them outside for a terrific set of individual portraits. They really came out great.
We broke for lunch, and when I came back, I brought my bag of goodies. Basically, we let the kids loose and just snapped away at them playing and having a good time.
What a great experience! Thanks to Consuela and all the Alphabetland staff. Be sure to check them out at http://www.alphabetland.com/
Here’s just a sampling of the kids and different images from the day.
