I like to plan quite a bit before each portrait session or wedding, and then relax and have fun. Fortunately, I’ve got most of the planning part down, so don’t worry.

General Questions
What Do I Get on the DVD of Images?
Most portrait and wedding packages come with a DVD of unedited images of the entire session in JPEG format. These are “straight out of the camera,” meaning they’re largely untouched. Before handing them over, I’ll remove those images that are blurry and grossly over/under-exposed, which is typically not many. I may also adjust white balance if I feel it’s necessary.
Your Website Has Beautifully Colored/Cropped/Artistic/etc. Versions of My Images. Can I Get Those, too?
Yes, of course. However, these adjustments take a great deal of time and effort. Therefore, I only offer this service as part of a purchased album, book, or other product. My value as a photographer is in how I interpret your images as much as it is in capturing them. I love this part of my work, and I hope you understand that I also like to be compensated for it.
Why is Payment Due Up Front?
This is pretty much an industry standard. With weddings, you pay up-front for the florist, caterer, banquet hall, and so on. I’m no different. You’re really hiring me based on my style and the consistency of my work. Also, I have had clients that failed to pay or canceled at the last minute and that makes things hard on everyone. These instances are rare. I’m sure you are not that sort of person. It just makes it easier on everyone if we get the business out of the way before your session or wedding.
Cancellations
For most portrait sessions, there is no cancellation fee as long as 24 hours notice is given. Of course, if you’ve reserved hair & make-up or have made arrangements to reserve a location, a cancellation fee may apply. Weddings typically do have associated cancellation and postponement fees. After all, I must reserve dates far in advance of any event, which means I’ve given up the possibility of helping another couple with their big day. When you hire me, we agree to all these details including cancellation fees–everything is spelled out up-front.
